Mildred Parr (nee Sorkin), a native of Milwaukee, died of complications of Alzheimer’s disease in Boynton Beach, Fla., on June 19. She was 89.
A graduate of West Division High School, she was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, B’nai B’rith, Hadassah-Milwaukee Chapter, City of Hope, Congregation Shalom and Congregation Emanu-El of Waukesha.
She retired to Las Vegas in 1993 with her husband, Cantor David Parr, who died in 1995. In 2000 she moved to Boynton Beach.
“She was a great grandmother who enjoyed sharing her love of baseball and travel with her grandsons. She was also well known for her miniature chocolate chip cookies,” said her family.
She is survived by sons Sheppard Parr of Boynton Beach and Thomas Parr of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; and two grandsons.
Graveside services and burial took place at Woodlawn Cemetery in Las Vegas.
The family would appreciate memorials to Congregation Shalom or Congregation Emanu-El of Waukesha.
