Community activist Mildred Bear of Glendale died Nov. 9 of pneumonia. She was 85.
She was born in Milwaukee, but grew up in Fort Atkinson, where she graduated from high school. Always called “Mama Bear,” she was a past president of the Ladies of Milwaukee Lodge, a member of B’nai B’rith and a supporter of City of Hope. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family.
She is survived by daughters Arlene (Tim) Mayer and Sandy Bear, both of Glendale; brother Mel Sernoe of Las Vegas; and three grandchildren. Her husband, Irving Bear, died in 1991.
Services were conducted by Rabbi Paul Kerbel. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
The family suggested memorials to the American Cancer Society.
