Michael M. Gottlieb

Former Wisconsinite Michael M. Gottlieb of Las Vegas died of complications of old age on Nov. 9. He was 90.

Born in Munising, Mich., he grew up in Waukesha. As an adult he moved to Milwaukee and had a variety of jobs before moving to Madison. There he opened a George Webb restaurant that he eventually transformed into Mike’s Restaurant, according to his sister Shirley (Lawrence) Lane of Glendale.

He retired and moved to Las Vegas about 18 years ago, and for a time was in charge of a pizza concession at a water park there.

He spent over 50 years as a member of Milwaukee-Harmony Masonic Lodge. “He was dearly loved and liked by everybody,” said his sister. “He was a wonderful man.”

In addition to his sister, he is survived by wife Ethel (nee Namerofsky) Gottlieb; daughter Toby Berman of Henderson, Nev.; brother Joseph (Felicia) Gottlieb of West Palm Beach, Fla.; and one granddaughter. He was preceded in death by son Jerry Gottlieb and brother Sammy Gottlieb.

A memorial service took place in Las Vegas on Nov. 9.
