Melvin E. Sernoe of Henderson, Nev., formerly of Milwaukee, died of heart failure on Nov. 15. He was 79 years old.
Born in Fort Atkinson, Sernoe graduated from North Division High School and attended Marquette University. He worked as an office manager, employed by Zien Mechanical Contractors and Friese-Mueller, both in Milwaukee. After retiring in 1994 he moved to the Las Vegas area.
Locally he was active in community theatre, with involvement in the JCC Players and Bay Players. He received the Bay Players’ Delmar Award in 1985.
According to his family, Sernoe enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and sports.
His wife, Anita Sernoe (nee Kroman), died in 1981. He is survived by his children, Rory Sernoe of Menomonee Falls, Susie Sernoe of Las Vegas, and Jim Sernoe of Wichita Falls, Texas, and three grandchildren.
The family is planning a service of remembrance in Milwaukee for Memorial Day weekend 2007.
Memorial contributions to the American Heart Association or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
