Kenosha-native Marjorie Wolfman (nee Singer) died Oct. 8 at her home in Hermosa Beach, Calif. She was 87.
The oldest of eight siblings, she attended Kenosha Bradford High School and lived in Racine most of her adult life. She was married to Elvin Wolfman of Racine for 36 years until his death in 1974.
Together, they owned the Garden Spot Grocery Store, a fixture in downtown Racine during the 1950s. In 1959, they co-founded Wolf Brothers, a men’s clothing store.
She is survived by daughter Judy Burns of Tampa, Fla.; son Edward Wolfman of Manhattan Beach, Calif.; sisters Reeva Weissfeld of Tamarac, Fla., Annette Singer of Sun City, Fla., Donna Singer of New York City, and Estelle Singer of Chicago; brother Allen Singer of Mountain View, Calif; and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by daughter Barbara Lieberstein in 1985.
Funeral services were held Oct. 13 at Beth Israel Sinai Temple in Racine with Cantor Martyn Adelberg officiating. Burial was in Racine Jewish Memorial Cemetery.
