Milwaukee native Lucille Eder Lichter, of Fox Point, died Jan. 18 at the age of 83. The causes of death were lung cancer and a stroke.
A graduate of Riverside High School in 1940 and the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1944, she went to Boston in 1945 for advanced training in dietetics at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital, according to her family.
A career dietician, at one time she was chief dietician for more than 15 health care facilities and convalescent homes, her family said.
She was a member of Congregation Shalom, NA’AMAT USA and Women’s American O.R.T. She was a board member of the Milwaukee Jewish Federation Women’s Division and a past president of Hadassah and American Society for Technion-Israel Institute of Technology.
According to her family, “she loved football, was a world traveler, expert seamstress, and skilled at needlepoint, and bridge. She loved to swim and play tennis” and she collected paintings and sculpture.
She was preceded in death by her twin sister, Lorraine Koplin, 14 years ago. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Leo Lichter, sons Laurence Jeffrey (Nedra) Lichter of Tiburon, Calif., and Lance Alan (Roxane Davidoff) Lichter of River Hills; daughter Linda Beth (Nick Marck) Lichter-Marck of Santa Monica, Calif.; brother Eugene Eder and sister Barbara (Melvin) Shikora, both of Milwaukee; and eight grandchildren.
Rabbi Ronald Shapiro officiated at funeral services Jan. 22. Burial was in Mound Zion Cemetery.
Memorials to Congregation Shalom would be appreciated by the family.
