Lois F. Bursten

Former Milwaukeean Lois F. Bursten (nee Honzelka) died April 21 at her home in Ft. Myers, Fla., after a long battle with colon cancer. She was 77.

She was born in Iowa and grew up in Milwaukee. She graduated from Rufus King High School.

She and her husband, Dr. Robert Bursten, moved to Florida from Fox Point six years ago. Despite her illness, she was able to realize her wish to attend her grandson Daniel’s bar mitzvah in January.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by daughters Bonnie Bursten of Sausalito, Calif., and Barbara (Dr. Alan) Siegel of Ft. Myers; sisters Delores Sullivan of Eagle River, Wis., and Joyce Murray of Brown Deer; brother Loren Honzelka of Milwaukee; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by son Peter Bursten.

Rabbi Bruce Diamond officiated at services on April 24 in Ft. Myers.
