Milwaukee native Laverne S. Stein, nee Auerbach, died Jan. 30. She was 77.
She was a graduate of North Division High School and Milwaukee Downer College.
She taught in the Milwaukee Public School system for 20 years and also taught religious school at Beth El Ner Tamid Synagogue. According to her family, her special interests included weekly volunteering at Benjamin Franklin School and spending time with her family.
Preceded in death by husband Al, she is survived by son Gary (Amy) Stein of Mequon and daughter Cheryl (Tobey Libber) Stein-Libber of Shorewood and five grandchildren.
Rabbi Shari Shamah officiated at funeral services Feb. 1. Burial was in Second Home Cemetery.
Memorials to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
