Joseph Kristal

Longtime Milwaukeean Joseph Kristal died of pneumonia Feb. 23. He was 96.
Born in Russia, he came to Sheboygan at the age of three and lived there until 1945 when he and his family moved to Milwaukee.

“While in Sheboygan he was in the egg business, buying eggs from farmers in the Sheboygan and surrounding areas and selling them to retail groceries in Milwaukee,” according to his family. In Milwaukee, he worked as a salesman.

He was a member of Temple Menorah.

He was preceded in death by wife Marian (nee Salkin) in 1983. Surviviors include son Bernard (Judy) Kristal of Mequon; sister Jean Rubin of Milwaukee; brother Max Kristal of Santa Cruz, Calif.; and two grandsons.

Rabbis Isaac and Gil-Ezer Lerer officiated at graveside services Feb. 25 in Beth Hamedrosh Hagodel Cemetery.

Memorials to the Jewish Community Pantry and Temple Menorah would be appreciated by the family.
