JNF establishes Israel Crisis Fund

To help Americans bombarded almost daily with horrific news from Israel, Jewish National Fund has issued a call to action and established the Israel Crisis Fund.

In making a nation-wide appeal, Ronald S. Lauder, JNF national president, said, “When the organization was founded 100 years ago, it made a promise to serve as the caretaker of the land of Israel and the direct link to Israel for Jews from around the world.

Recent events have made our programs and projects even more crucial to the citizens of Israel. We need to assure Israel that its people are not being forgotten, nor is their plight being ignored.”

According to JNF, funds will be used

• Build security roads to enable thousands of Israeli children to travel safely to school.

• Provide support to Israeli victims of terror — orphans, widows and wounded — through cooperation with Israeli organizations.

• Sustain JNF’s campaign to tell the real stories of this crisis through e-mails sent to hundreds of thousands to keep Israeli supporters informed.

• Continue work on increasing Israel’s water resources. Even after this crisis is over, JNF says the country’s water shortage will continue.

In addition, JNF is urging its supporters to communicate with all members of Congress to support Israel and plans to send a leadership solidarity delegation to Israel in June to show support for the people of Israel. Its Caravan for Democracy is appearing on college campuses nationwide, where volunteers speak to students about what is happening in Israel.
