Funeral services were held Dec. 8 for Jerry Mauer of Bayside. He died Dec. 5 of heart failure at the age of 84.
Mauer, a Holocaust survivor, was born in Poland and came to Milwaukee in 1959. An entrepreneur, he operated Mauer Building Corporation and Bright Food Market.
He was a member of the New American Club and Congregation Beth Israel. His interests included reading and politics.
He is survived by his wife, Sara Lusha Mauer; sons Henry (Barb Sherkow) Mauer of Milwaukee and Morris (Cantor Aviva Katzman) Mauer of Chicago; and five grandchildren.
Rabbi Paul Kerbel and Cantor Katzman officiated at the funeral. Burial was in Agudas Achim Cemetery.
Memorials to the Holocaust Education and Resource Center, c/o Coalition for Jewish Learning, or Congregation Beth Israel would be appreciated by the family.
