Jerome Hoffman

Former Milwaukeean Jerome Hoffman died March 16 of complications of diabetes in Bonita, Calif. He was 73.

Raised in Milwaukee, he was the son of Alfred and Sarah (nee Jacob) Hoffman.

He served in the U.S. Army between World War II and the Korean War, stationed in Japan.

In 1958, he moved his family to Chula Vista, Calif., where he operated Hoffman’s Insurance Agency. He also became involved in real estate.

He was active in his synagogue, having served as its president. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening in his fruit orchard.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Naomi (nee Sharp); sons Phillip Hoffman and Irving Hoffman, both of Bonita; daughter Esther Dunn of Bonita; mother-in-law Leah Sharp; brother-in-law Mendel Sharp; and five grandchildren.

Services and burial were held March 18 in Bonita.

The family would appreciate memorials to the Diabetes Association.
