Irene Brill

Former Racine resident Irene Brill (nee Bassewitz) of Tampa, Fla., died Oct. 4 following a short illness. She was 84.

She was born in Sheboygan and attended North High School and the University of Wisconsin. She moved to Racine with her husband, George Brill, and lived there most of her adult life, where she was a member of Beth Israel Sinai Congregation.

According to her family, she was an avid bridge player and was devoted to her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1985. Survivors include daughter Karen Sideman Melnick, of Boca Raton, Fla.; sister, June (Alvin) Wolin, of Tampa; three granddaughters and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services and burial were held Oct. 6 in Tampa. Rabbi Samuel Seicol officiated.
