Ida Lowe

Bayside resident Ida Lowe (nee Marcus) died on Sept. 6 at the age of 92.

Lowe was born in Stolpce, Poland, and came to Ellis Island with her family as a young child in 1924. The family settled in Minneapolis, which is where she grew up.

She and her husband, Charles, raised their family in Oshkosh. After her husband’s death in 1990, she moved to Milwaukee to be close to her family. She was formerly a member of Congregation Emanu-El B’ne Jeshurun.

Lowe’s family described her as a strong, independent woman. During her adult life in Oshkosh, she cultivated a thriving hobby in antique furniture and accessories She was also a “great dresser, always looking young and fit,” which matched her optimistic outlook on life, said her son David (Shari) Lowe of Scottsdale, Ariz., and formerly of Milwaukee.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles. In addition to her son, she is survived by daughter Susan (Stephen) Porter of Washington, D.C.; sister Frances Gordon of Santa Barbara, Calif.; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Sept. 10 at Lake View Mausoleum & Memorial Park in Oshkosh. Congregation B’nai Israel religious director Gary Wolfman officiated.
