Longtime Milwaukeean Ida Lindenbaum of Glendale died of old age May 4. She was 96.

Born in Odessa, Russia, in 1909, she came to Milwaukee in about 1915. She graduated from North Division High School and held a variety of jobs including waitress, salesperson and laborer.

She lived in a nursing home for most of her life and spent her last years at Seven Oaks, according to her guardian.

She enjoyed singing, playing the piano, cards and bingo. She composed and named a song, “My Mama I Love Her.”

“She was a natural born entertainer who loved singing the songs of Irving Berlin and George M. Cohan,” her guardian said.
