Funeral services were held July 1 for Henry L. Chortek of Glendale. He died June 29 of pneumonia at the age of 85.
He was born in Madison, where he graduated from West High School and attended the University of Wisconsin.
He served four years in the Pacific during World War II. He settled in Milwaukee in 1952 and he became a retailer.
An avid Badger fan, he loved keeping up with current events and spending time with his family.
He is survived by daughter Nancy (Yale) Freiman of Glendale; brothers Sam (Dori), Irving and Bernard (Sharon) Chortek of Milwaukee and Peter (Elaine) Chortek of San Diego; two granddaughters; and two great-grandchildren. His wife, Frieda Chortek (nee Hoffman), died in 1999.
Rabbi Nachman Levine officiated at the service. Burial was in Second Home Cemetery.
