Harry M. Schoenfeld

Harry M. Schoenfeld of Shorewood died Nov. 10 of heart failure at the Jewish Home and Care Center. He was 82.

He was born in Watertown and settled in Milwaukee with his family at the age of 12. He graduated from North Division High School and attended the University of Wisconsin Extension for two years, where he studied business administration.

He served in the U.S. Air Force as a Staff Sgt./administrative specialist for four years during World War II. He enlisted just prior to the attack on Pearl Harbor and served from 1941-45.

He began his professional career as a real estate broker and later worked in property management. Throughout his career, he was associated with the Grootemaat Corp., W. R. Blatz and Associates and Northridge Lakes, where he was the executive director of the apartment community. He also continued his education with courses in property management, psychology, sales and personnel management.

A member of Congregation Shalom for nearly 50 years, he supported the Milwaukee Jewish Federation and the Jewish Home and Care Center.

In addition to spending time with his family, he enjoyed fishing and collecting shells.

According to his wife, Inez Schoenfeld (nee Rosenblith), “He amassed a large shell collection from our vacations in Florida. Upon our return, he always enjoyed showing the shells to various school groups, especially where our daughter, Linda, taught. We both loved shelling on the Florida beaches.”

In addition to his wife of 57 years, he is survived by son Howard (Susan) Schoenfeld of Bayside; daughters Linda (Jeffrey) Rosen of Milwaukee and Susan (Mark) Stodola of Phoenix, Ariz.; and eight grandchildren.

Rabbi Ronald Shapiro officiated at the funeral. Burial was in Mound Zion Cemetery.

The family would appreciate memorials to the Jewish Home and Care Center or Congregation Shalom.
