Harold M. Altman

Milwaukee native Harold A. Altman died July 3 following complications from heart surgery. He was 75.

He graduated in 1944 from Rufus King High School and served in the U.S. Army from 1944-46. In 1949, he married Arlene Schumacher and began his career in the beauty supply business. He took a sales position for $60 a week. He went into business for himself in 1969, starting Altman Beauty and Barber Supply and remained active in the business until his death. He was semi-retired and spent his winters in Sunrise, Fla.

He was a lifelong member of Congregation Agudas Achim.

His special pleasure was spending time with his children and grandchildren and his “breakfast buddies.”

He is survived by companion Beverly Gordon; sons Marc (Arlene) Altman of Shorewood, Scott (Barbara) Altman of Bayside and Martin (Suzanne) Altman of Sherman Oaks, Calif.; daughters Vicki (Robert) Marx of River Hills and Dana (Michael) Rubin of West Hills, Calif.; sister Lois Berg; brother-in-law Melvin (Marcy) Schumacher; sister-in-law Sylvia Segel; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years.

Funeral services were held July 6 at Agudas Achim Cemetery.
