Mequon resident Goldie Katz, nee Stein, died on Dec. 12 at the age of 97.
Born in Rodzinov, Poland, Katz moved to Wisconsin in 1923.
As a member of Beth El Ner Tamid Synagogue, she was active in the Beth El Sisterhood, Hadassah and the Women’s American ORT-Wisconsin Chapter.
According to her family, she enjoyed reading and listening to opera.
She was preceded in death by husband Harry Katz in 1994 and son Myron Katz in 2006. She is survived by daughter Estelle (Sheldon) Bernstein of Aventura, Fla.; son Jeffrey (Karen) Katz of Glendale; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Dec. 15. Burial was in Agudas Achim Cemetery. Rabbi Ronald Shapiro officiated.
