Milwaukee native Gary Morris Goldenberg died suddenly Sept. 24 in Belmont, Calif. He was 65.
He attended Riverside and Shorewood high schools and graduated in 1959 from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He then attended Wayne State Graduate School in Detroit, where he earned a master’s degree and a doctorate in psychology.
He was a clinical psychologist in private practice in San Mateo, Calif., and belonged to the national, California and San Mateo psychological associations.
His family said he was a “voracious reader, avid exerciser and enjoyed teaching graduate students. His compassion and insight touched and healed the lives of many, and his kind, gentle and witty soul will be missed.”
He is survived by his wife, Joan Goldenberg of Belmont; sons Todd Goldenberg of New York City and Scott Goldenberg of Belmont; and brother Don (Patty) Goldenberg.
A celebration of life was held Oct. 24 in California by his colleagues at Peninsula Hospital. A second service for family and friends will be held Nov. 17.
