Frymette F. Shamis

Former Milwaukee resident Frymette F. Shamis (nee Slater), 77, died April 12 of cancer in Phoenix.

Born and raised in Newark, N.J., she graduated in 1945 from Stevens Institute of Technology with a degree in engineering. She came to Milwaukee in 1955 and worked as a technical librarian for Globe Union.

She belonged to Beth El Ner Tamid Synagogue and was a past president and officer of Women’s American ORT. Her special interests included cooking, reading, ORT activities and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband, Harry Shamis; daughter Diane (Ezzo) Perkins of Chatsworth, Calif.; brother Robert (Ruth) Slater of Laguna Hills, Calif.; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by daughter Marilyn Shamis in 1978.

Services and burial were held in Phoenix.
