Longtime Milwaukeean Fred Bamberger of Shorewood died of a heart attack May 25, at the age of 97.
Born in Germany, he came to Wisconsin in 1937 and served in the U.S. Armed Forces from 1942-1945. He was a salesman for Top Crop Nut Company and owned several men’s clothing stores in Madison. He was also associated with the Jack Sronik Co., his family said.
He loved to walk and play golf, which he took up at the age of 78. He was a member of Congregation Emanu-El B’ne Jeshurun, Hadassah and B’nai B’rith International.
He is survived by wife Eve, nee Goldsmith, daughters Susan (Gerald) Conen of Fox Point and Rita Bamberger of Washington, D.C.; two grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Rabbi Marc Berkson officiated at graveside services May 28. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery.
