Florence Schneiderman, nee Belinky, of Milwaukee died April 21 of lung cancer at the age of 86.
She was born in Sheboygan, and her family relocated to Milwaukee when she was a child. She graduated from North Division High School in 1936.
An active member of Congregation Beth Israel, she served as president of the Phyllis Berman Chapter of the City of Hope and was the first woman elected to the national board of that organization. She also worked as a volunteer at St. Michael Hospital for 45 years, her family said.
“She was a phenomenal knitter and crocheter and an exceptional grandmother and great-grandmother,” said daughter Cindy Leisch of Scottsdale, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by husband Albert Hobby Schneiderman in 1992. In addition to Leisch, she is survived by daughter Donna (Dr. Stacy) Roback of Edina, Minn.; son Steve (Susie) Schneiderman of Milwaukee; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Rabbi Jacob Herber officiated at funeral services April 24. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Memorials to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
