Milwaukee native Fan Krom (nee Silberman), of Glendale, died June 11, after a long illness. She was 89.
A 1932 graduate of North Division High School, she was “a devoted wife, mother and grandmother,” who “especially enjoyed baking at Thanksgiving where everyone eagerly awaited her pumpkin and apple pie,” according to her family.
She was a member of Congregation Shalom, B’nai B’rith and Hadassah and volunteered for many years at Mt. Sinai Hospital.
Preceded in death by first husband Sidney Fabric in 1962, she is survived by second husband Claire Krom; daughter Barbara (David) Abrams of Winnetka, Ill.; sons Dr. Kenneth (Claire) Fabric of Bayside and Michael (Judie) Krom of Boerne, Texas; sisters Freda (Alvin) Sucher of Glendale and Lil Mattigan of Scottsdale, Ariz.; brother James Silberman of Alexandria, Va.; 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Rabbi Ronald Shapiro officiated at funeral services at Congregation Shalom, June 14. Burial was in Second Home Cemetery.
Memorials to Congregation Shalom or the Hunger Task Force would be appreciated by the family.
