Ethel Ottenstein

Arts enthusiast Ethel Ottenstein of Bayside died Jan. 19 at the age of 73.
She and her husband of 53 years, Dr. Bernard Ottenstein, loved to attend the opera, symphony, theater and the ballet. She also enjoyed traveling and playing golf, mahjong and bridge.

A Milwaukee native, she graduated in 1948 from Washington High School and attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison. A homemaker, she belonged to Temple Menorah, Hadassah, NA’AMAT USA and Women’s American ORT.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by daughters Leslie (Richard) Paler of Mequon and Amy (Harvey) Zwyer of Baltimore; son James (Pam) Ottenstein of Minneapolis; sister Sara (Larry) Halperin of Newton, Mass.; sister-in-law Gertrude Levin of Milwaukee; brother-in-law Dr. Harold Ottenstein of Milwaukee; and six grandchildren.

Rabbi Gil-Ezer Lerer officiated at the funeral on Jan. 21. Burial was in Mound Zion Cemetery.
