Ethel M. Rochwerger

Ethel Rochwerger (nee Michael) died July 4 at the Jewish Home and Care Center at the age of 91.

She was born in Sydney, Nova Scotia, where she graduated from high school in 1929 and with honors from a business college in 1931. She settled in Milwaukee in 1932.

A homemaker, she was a member of Congregation Emanu-El B’ne Jeshurun and its Sisterhood, Hadassah and the Democratic Party. In addition, she was a volunteer at the Jewish Home and Care Center.

She was an avid reader and enjoyed knitting and needlepoint and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by daughters Rosalie Rellin of Mequon and Barbara (Charles) Haynes of Byron, Minn.; son Myron (Janice) Rochwerger of Milwaukee; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Her husband, Irving Rochwerger, died in 1984.

Rabbi Marc Berkson officiated at the funeral on July 6. Burial was in Mound Zion Cemetery.

The family suggested memorial contributions to the Congregation Emanu-El B’ne Jeshurun Building Fund or the Jewish Home.
