Esther Reva Shovers (nee Hillman) died on April 6 at the age of 93.
Born in Sheboygan, Shovers moved to Milwaukee as a child and eventually attended North Division High School.
A member of Congregation Emanu-El B’ne Jeshurun for over fifty years, she was also active in the synagogue sisterhood and Hadassah – Milwaukee Chapter.
According to her family, Shovers was “truly devoted” to them. She also enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, and playing bridge and mahjong.
She is survived by her husband of nearly sixty-five years, John Shovers, and son Michael Shovers, both of Glendale; daughters Stephanie (Marc) Ackerman of Mequon and Marjorie (Todd) Canham of Thiensville; sister Rose Abramson of La Jolla, Calif.; and three grandchildren.
Rabbi Marc Berkson officiated at funeral services held at Congregation Emanu-El B’ne Jeshurun on April 8. Burial was in Mound Zion Cemetery.
