Edward D. Plotkin

Former Milwaukeean Edward Donal Plotkin died Jan. 23 in Portland, Ore. He was 78.
He was born and raised in Milwaukee and graduated from North Division High School, where he was on the football team. He worked in the family business, American Fuel and Supply Co.; and ran his own business, American Paint and Supply, in the 1970s. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in the Pacific theater during World War II.

He was a former member of Beth El Ner Tamid Synagogue, and most recently worshiped at Congregation Shalom, where he had been one of the founders. He also belonged to B’nai B’rith and the Jewish War Veterans.

According to his family, he was “a big baseball fan, especially of the original Milwaukee Brewers and Milwaukee Braves.” He and his wife, Colleen Davis-Plotkin, moved to Portland two years ago.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by son Neal (Nancy) Plotkin of Milwaukee; daughters Rhonda Plotkin and Vita (Tom) MacArthur, both of Milwaukee; and five grandchildren. Son Jeffrey Plotkin preceded him in death.

Rabbi Shari Shamah conducted funeral services on Jan. 28. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Memorial contributions to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and the Jewish War Veterans would be appreciated by the family.
