Dorothy Kagen Singer

Milwaukee native Dorothy Kagen Singer died April 8, of a systemic infection. She was 83.

She graduated from Washington High School in 1941 and received a bachelor’s degree from University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1945. She worked as an occupational therapist.

She volunteered at various organizations, including the Milwaukee Public Museum, Schlitz Audubon Nature Center, the Jewish Home and Care Center and Hadassah.
According to her family, she “loved nature, learning, theatre, arts, dance, travel, and her family and many friends.”

She was a longtime member of Congregation Shalom.

Preceded in death by her husband, Harold, in 1995, she is survived by brother Allan (Marlene) Kagen of Mequon; daughters Jan Singer of Milwaukee and Cathy Singer of Chicago; sons Tom (Anysia Oswald) Singer of Alexandria, Va., Matt (Maureen Mallo) Singer of Milwaukee and Eric (Andrea Sperduto) Singer of Cleveland; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service and celebration will be held on Sunday, May 28, noon, at the Schlitz Audubon Nature Center, 1111 E. Brown Deer Rd., Bayside.

Memorial contributions to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
