Donald Harold Hamilton

Longtime Milwaukee resident Donald Harold Hamilton of Glendale died March 6 of renal failure. He was 89.

Born in Marinette, he lived in Detroit and then Appleton. He graduated from Appleton High School in 1934.

He served in the Army Air Corps in Europe during World War II.

In the early 1950s, he founded Hamilton Paper Co. He worked in commercial property management for much of his career and then as a claims administrator for MGIC until retirement in 1990, according to his family.

Active in the Jewish community for 60 years, he and his wife Mildred (nee Blinder) were one of the 14 founding families of Congregation Shalom. They have been members of Congregation Emanu-El B’ne Jeshurun for 45 years. He also served as president of the Greenwood Cemetery Association.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons Thomas (Jacqueline Martelle) of New York City and Peter (Margaret Christy) of Portland, Ore.; sister Arlene Sutton of Chicago; and two grandsons.

Rabbi Marc Berkson officiated at funeral services March 9. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery.
