Milwaukee native and longtime Madison resident David Ottenstein died on June 25. He was 80 years old.
David graduated from Washington High School in 1942 and Marquette University, and was a veteran of World War II, in which he served in the Pacific Theater. He moved to Madison in 1951, where he had a long career at Prudential Insurance Co. After retiring, he established his own business in 1993, called Instant Tax Service.
He was a past president and treasurer of Beth Israel Center in Madison, of which he was a member for 55 years.
He is survived by wife Sandra; son Jay (Kathy) Ottenstein of Encino, Calif.; daughters Elana and Shari Ottenstein, both of Los Angeles, and Debbie (Eric) Alden, of Northridge, Calif.; sister Rita (Dr. Gerald) Buckman of Highland Park, Ill.; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at Beth Israel Center on June 28.
Memorials to Beth Israel Center, the Madison Jewish Community Council or the American Lung Association would be appreciated by the family.
