Milwaukee native and long-time Antigo resident David M. Fromstein, died Dec. 10 at the age of 89.
He was a graduate of North Division High School in 1934, the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1938 and UW Law School in 1942.
He attained the rank of captain in the U.S. Army Air Corps and then settled in Antigo where he was the proprietor of David’s, a men’s clothing store.
He was a charter member of the Antigo Lions Club, former head of Citizens of Antigo Trust Society, president of Langlade County Memorial Hospital board, chairman of the 16th District Wisconsin Technical School board and member of Wisconsin State Technical School board.
He was the recipient of the Antigo Area Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year Award in 1978 as well as of many other civic citations and awards, according to his family.
He was a member and former president of Mt. Sinai Congregation, Wausau.
Preceded in death by sisters Alfrieda Miller and Belle Silberman and brother Milton Fromstein, all of Milwaukee, he is survived by wife Bernice, nee Harris; daughters Susan (Allan) Bernstein of Palo Alto, Calif., Marjorie Stewart of Madison, Deborah (Leon) Ayers of Stevens Point and Ruth Fromstein of Madison; son Daniel (Roberta) Fromstein of Bethesda, Md.; sister Libby Fromstein of Milwaukee; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Rabbi E. Daniel Danson officiated at funeral services Dec. 18. Burial was in Hebrew Cemetery, Wausau.
