Former Milwaukeean Daniel Leavitt died of pulmonary disease March 2 in Henderson, Nev., where he resided with his wife, Elaine Leavitt (nee Kaufer), a native of Milwaukee. He was 82. The March 5 burial was in Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, Nev.
Born in Chicago, he moved to Florida in the 1950s, where he owned a hotel. In 1960 he moved to Milwaukee, where he owned the Crystal Palace, a downtown bar and restaurant, and was later employed at Sears in Glendale. In the 1980s, he moved to Thousand Oaks, Calif., and later, to Henderson.
He was a member of the Shriners’ Egypt Temple in Florida; the Masons’ Harmony Lodge #261 in Milwaukee; and Jewish War Veterans Post #65 in Henderson.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by son Steven (Denice) Leavitt of Los Angeles, and a granddaughter.
