Carl S. Zetley

Longtime accountant Carl S. Zetley of Fox Point died Aug. 11 of heart failure. He was 77.

He graduated in 1944 from Washington High School. After serving in the U.S. Army during World War II in Europe, he remained for a time in the Army of Occupation in Germany after the war.

He graduated in 1949 from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he majored in accounting. He returned to Milwaukee to establish the accounting firm now known as Zetley Carneol & Stein. Over the years, he represented many families and businesses, including the Milwaukee Bucks.

In addition to his professional responsibilities, spending time with his family was paramount. Friday night Shabbat dinners, boat trips all over Wisconsin, down the Mississippi and to Canada, and teasing family and friends were central to his life.
According to his family, if he liked someone, he’d tease even more. He also loved cars and, though not a collector, he at one time owned 10.

He belonged to Congregation Beth Israel and the Wisconsin Society of Certified Public Accountants.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Zetley (nee Blumenthal); daughters Faye Korobkin and Linda (Randall Rowlett) Zetley, both of Milwaukee; son Craig (Lisa) Zetley of Milwaukee; brother Marvin (Marilyn) Zetley of Milwaukee; brother-in-law Sheldon (Jan) Blumenthal of Brentwood, Calif.; and 10 grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Aug. 13 with burial in Mound Zion Cemetery.

The family would appreciate memorials to the Generation to Generation Fund at Congregation Beth Israel.
