Blossom K. Newman

Blossom K. Newman (nee Kohn) of Mequon died Jan. 29 after a short illness. She was 93.

Born in Chicago, she graduated from the University of Illinois College of Pharmacy in 1932. Her family said she earned the highest grades ever received by a woman student.

She pursued a career as a pharmacist. She moved to Milwaukee in 2000 from Florida.
Preceded in death by husband Clarence Newman in 1984, she is survived by sons Laurance R. (Barbara) Newman of Mequon and Richard (Marsha) Newman of Skokie, Ill.; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Rabbi Shari Shamah officiated at a memorial service at Congregation Shalom, Feb. 1.

Memorials to the Sarah Chudnow Campus would be appreciated by the family.
