Funeral services were held Oct. 3 for Bernice Sussman (nee Cahn). She died Sept. 30 at the Jewish Home and Care Center at the age of 89.
Born in Lithuania, she lived in Milwaukee, moved to Chicago and returned to Milwaukee while in her 20s. She worked as a buyer of women’s apparel at Rosenberg’s Department Store.
She was a member of Congregation Emanu-El B’ne Jeshurun.
Her family noted that she demonstrated “a caring and strength beyond words. She was devoted to her family, friends and those in challenging circumstances. She will be remembered for her courage, compassion and diligence.”
She is survived by children Karen (Paul) LaSage of Milwaukee, Jerri (Doug) Stahl of Los Angeles, Dr. Lyle (Susan) Sussman of Louisville, Ky., and Charlene (Gary) Mullarkey of West Palm Beach, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Rabbi Francis Barry Silberg officiated at the funeral.
