Community activist Benjamin Chudnow of Mequon died March 30. He was 84.
The Milwaukee native graduated from North Division High School and owned Chudnow Iron & Metal Co. He belonged to the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industry, Inc.
Involved in many community activities, he was a member of Beth El Ner Tamid Synagogue and B’nai B’rith and a supporter of the Jewish National Fund, American Friends of Hebrew University, the Boys and Girls Club. He was known for his fundraising ability and his sense of humor.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Beatrice Chudnow (nee Goldberg); son Dick (Jennifer) Chudnow of Milwaukee; daughter Judy (Bill) Franke of Minneapolis; brothers Avrum (Anita) Chudnow and Joseph (Marian) Chudnow, both of Milwaukee; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson. He was preceded in death by son Lawrence Chudnow.
Rabbi Gideon Goldenholz officiated at the funeral on April 1. Burial was in Anshai Lebowitz Cemetery.
