Belle Peterman

Native Milwaukeean Belle Peterman (née Sosman) of Mequon died Aug. 18 of complications of diabetes. She was 85.

A 1938 graduate of North Division High School, she worked in sales and bookkeeping at Babyland.

She was a member of Congregation Beth Jehudah and Women’s American ORT. She was particularly interested in her grandchildren, her great-grandchildren, Jewish cooking and baking, her family said.

Preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Peterman, in 1992, she is survived by sons Robert (Beth) Peterman of Mequon, and Dennis Peterman of Irvine, Calif.; brother Marvin Sosman of Bayside; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Rabbi Michel Twerski officiated at funeral services on Aug. 20. Burial was in Beth Hamedrosh Hagodel Cemetery.

Memorials to the American Diabetes Association or Congregation Beth Jehudah would be appreciated by the family.
