Belle Golden

Belle Golden, nee Levin, of Glendale died of natural causes on March 13. She was 92.
Born in Lithuania, she came to Milwaukee in 1912 and graduated from North Division High School.

Golden was a homemaker and worked as a bookkeeper for Jewish Vocational Services (now the Milwaukee Center for Independence) and Lakeside Children’s Center.

A charter member of Congregation Shalom, she was active in its sisterhood. She also was a life member of Hadassah and a member of the Shorewood Women’s Club.

She volunteered for Columbia Hospital and knit blankets and hats for the hospital’s nursery. She also was an “avid bridge player,” according to her family.

She is survived by daughters Susan (Mitchell) Blackman of Shorewood and Mary (Michael) Tatz of Glenview, Ill.; and four grandchildren. Her husband, Jack Golden, whom she married in 1933, died in 1982.

Rabbi Ronald Shapiro officiated at the funeral on March 16. Burial was in Beth Hamedrosh Hagodol Cemetery.

Memorial contributions to the Congregation Shalom Special Art Fund would be appreciated by the family.
