Beatrice “Betty” Hankin, nee Berman, formerly of Milwaukee, died of lung disease on Jan. 7. She was 86.
Hankin was born in Milwaukee and graduated from Washington High School in 1938.
Before moving to Royal Oak, Mich., in 2003, she was a member of Congregation Emanu-El B’ne Jeshurun.
Hankin worked as a secretary for Drs. Steele & Mellencamp in Milwaukee. She also volunteered at Wisconsin Public Radio, the Badger Home for the Blind and with Cub Scout and Girl Scout troops.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard J. Hankin, in 1998. She is survived by daughter Janet Hankin (Allen Goodman) of Huntington Woods, Mich.; son James Hankin of Milwaukee; brother Robert Berman of Madison; sister Suzanne Blotner of Madison; and one granddaughter.
Rabbi David Nelson officiated at funeral services on Jan. 10 in Michigan.
