Audrey Simon

A memorial service will be held at Beth El Ner Tamid Synagogue on Sunday, Feb. 27, 11 a.m., for former Milwaukeean Audrey Simon, nee Katzow. She died Feb. 11 of lung cancer in Thiensville. She was 91.

She came to Milwaukee from Russia in 1917. In 1930, she completed studies at a secretarial school and worked as a cosmetics sales representative at Bullock’s Department Store in Los Angeles until her retirement. She lived in Los Angeles for more than 40 years and returned to the Milwaukee area a few months before her death.

She was a member of Women’s American ORT and Hadassah. She enjoyed music, reading, mahjong, cooking, baking, knitting and card games, according to son Albert (Barbara) Simon of Glendale.

She was preceded in death by husband Harry Simon in 1959 and son Ronald Simon in 1988. In addition to Albert Simon, she is survived by son Lester (Gail) Simon of Phoenix; daughter-in-law Fern Simon of Las Vegas; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Cantor Jerome Berkowitz officiated at funeral services in Los Angeles Feb. 15. Burial is in Mount Sinai Memorial Parks, Los Angeles.
