Arienne Balser, nee Silverstein, a resident of Milwaukee since 2003, died April 21. She was 76.
Born in New York City, she earned a bachelor’s degree from Brooklyn College in 1950 and a master’s in mathematics from Columbia University. She worked as a math professor and then as a stay-at-home mother, according to her daughter Amy Balser (Edward) Blumenthal of Bayside. Before coming to Milwaukee to live near her daughter, she resided in Boston and Los Angeles, her family said.
In addition to her daughter, she is survived by son Richard Balser of Diamond Head, Miss.; brother, Raymond (Karen) Silverstein of Denver; and two granddaughters.
Rabbi Harold Shulweis officiated at funeral services April 25 in Mission Hills, Calif. Burial was in Eden Memorial Park in Los Angeles.
Memorials to St. John’s on the Lake or the Jewish Chaplaincy Program of the Milwaukee Jewish Federation would be appreciated by the family.
