Longtime Fond du Lac resident Alex Blumenfeld died Nov. 2 at the age of 83.
He was born in Toronto and grew up in Wausau, where he graduated from Wausau East High School in 1938.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the 10th Mountain Ski Division in the Aleutian Islands and Italy. Later, he owned and operated Alex Blumenfeld’s Army-Navy Surplus in Fond du Lac. He was a former member of Temple Beth Israel in Fond du Lac.
Survivors include his wife, Ann Blumenfeld; daughters Beverly (Barry) Weissman and Judy (Peter) Baloff, both of Los Angeles; brother Sol (Corlie) Blumenfeld of Madison; sister Rose (Julius) Michels of Milwaukee; and a grandson.
Gary Wolfman of Congregation B’nai Israel in Oshkosh officiated at the funeral on
Nov. 6.
The family would appreciate memorials to the American Cancer Society.
