A. Arthur Charous of Glendale died of natural causes July 26. He was 93.
A native of Chicago, he came to Milwaukee from Wilmette, Ill., in 2003. He was a graduate of Tilden Technical High School and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics from the University of Chicago in 1930. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa and was valedictorian of his class.
He was employed as a business economist for the Sears Roebuck Company, in Chicago, and later, at the State of Illinois Department of Labor.
According to his family, he enjoyed bridge, tennis, Scrabble, travel and his play-reading group.
He is survived by wife Rae (Bribram) Charous of Glendale, son Dr. B. Lauren (Dr. Margaret) Charous of Fox Point and two grandsons.
Cantor David Landau officiated at graveside services July 28. Burial was in Shalom Memorial Park in Arlington Heights, Ill.
