Congregation Emanu-El B’ne Jeshurun held its weekly school-wide t’fillah service in this April photo. They meet on Wednesdays and Sundays for services and a wellness check-in with the students.

Chabad of the East Side was live April 14, 2020 with Rabbi Yisroel Lein, plus Zevi and Nochum,
both 4. The pre-Shabbat session, via Facebook Live, is held weekly on the Chabad of the East Side page. The goal is to provide a sense of positivity and community and share the joy of Shabbat with Milwaukee friends and the community at large.

Congregation Shalom held an Early Childhood Seder last month. “Zoom is a wonderful tool when we want to bring the community together live. It is one of the many mediums that we are using to maintain our community during this time,” said Rabbi Noah Chertkoff of Congregation Shalom in Fox Point.

The plan was to host refugees in person at Hillel Milwaukee for Shabbat dinner, for a Hias regufee shabbat. They would have shared their stories of hardship and their journey to seek refuge in the United States. The plan changed due to Covid-19 and on March 27, Hillel Milwaukee instead hosted this Shabbat experience over Zoom. A number of students shared their family “coming to America” stories. Doing so helped make a virtual program more personal, according to Eric M. Leiderman, Jewish educator, and Springboard fellow with Hillel Milwaukee.

Jewish Family Services delivered 140 Passover Meal bags on April 5 to seniors self-sheltering
due to COVID-19. Director of Social Services Kevin Boland made deliveries while taking precautions for safety.

Congregation Anshai Lebowitz held Yizkor in the synagogue parking lot, with the COVID-19 pandemic making it impossible to honor deceased family and friends in shul. Congregants remained in their cars as Rabbi Pinchas Levin led services.
