For Father’s Day: Chips, peanuts and bourbon

InPamsKitchen

Happy Father’s Day to the modern father!

Many contemporary Jewish fathers share parenting responsibilities more equally with mothers than in the past. These fathers can actively participate in nurturing, caregiving and education while still maintaining a traditional role of teacher and spiritual guide to maintain Jewish values and traditions.

It’s something to celebrate. With Father’s Day in June, this month’s recipe is a tribute to some of Dad’s favorites – chips, peanuts and bourbon. Quick and easy to make, nutty chip bourbon fudge is the perfect treat for Dad.

Nutty Potato Chip Bourbon Fudge

Yield:   36 pieces

10 ounces bittersweet chocolate, broken into pieces

10 ounces semi-sweet chocolate, broken into pieces

1 14 ounce can sweetened condensed milk

1/4 cup bourbon

1/3 cup unsalted peanuts

1/2 cup crushed potato chips

Directions:

Line an 8-by-8-inch pan with parchment paper. Set aside.

Place chocolate in a medium saucepan set over low heat. Pour in the sweetened condensed milk and stir constantly until chocolate is melted. Mixture will be very thick.

Remove from heat and stir in the bourbon until the mixture is smooth.

Stir in the nuts and crushed potato chips.

Spread into the lined pan.

Let stand at room temperature to set, about 2-3 hours.

Cut into pieces.

Cover and store at room temperature for up to one week.
