Hillel Milwaukee to host ‘reverse tashlich’
During their celebrations of Rosh Hashanah this year, Hillel Milwaukee will be participating in a “Reverse Tashlich” in which they clean up a waterway instead of casting bread into the water to leave sins behind.
Students and community members can register on Hillel Milwaukee’s website for the event on Friday, Sept. 22 at 5:30 p.m., according to Anna Goldstein Koenig, assistant director.
‘Golda’ film in Milwaukee
The new film ‘Golda’ arrived in Milwaukee theaters. The film follows the 18-day 1973 Yom Kippur War. Throughout the film, Prime Minister Golda Meir (Helen Mirren) navigates international relations with former U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger (Liev Schreiber). The film is directed by Academy Award winner Guy Nattiv.
Teen Philanthropy Board completed term
The Milwaukee Jewish Federation Teen Philanthropy Board completed its term of grant-making and learning. The group facilitates meetings of Jewish teens from around the Milwaukee area to discuss the philanthropic model, including grant-making, non-profit management, understanding grant proposals and strategies and addressing community needs.
