Q&A with Rhonda Hill | Wisconsin Jewish Chronicle

Q&A with Rhonda Hill

For our Standing Up Against Hate special section this month, we connected with a few local organizations serving diverse communities.

Rhonda Hill talks about her organization’s role in fighting hate:

Chronicle: What is your role and your organization’s role?

Rhonda Hill: My organization is Race and Faith. I serve as the founder and director
of Race and Faith. We are a faith-based organization challenging racial
inequities and advancing understanding to foster a more just world.

Is there any message you have for the Jewish community? Can
inter-community relationships help fight hate and how?

Diversity is one of the strengths of the Jewish community. Lean into the
rich diversity of people that live the faith and adhere to the cultural
practices. When this happens, the spirit of welcoming is unlocked, giving
more people access and willingness to be in community with Jewish people
and traditions. Embracing diversity also helps to bust myths about the
Jewish community which is very important with so much misinformation and
antisemitism running rampant in the United States.

Are there projects you are working on that the public can participate
in? How can people learn more?

Our current offerings are educational and experiential. Here are two:

Education: “Are you an Actor, Ally, Accomplice for Racial Justice?”
Engage in this pre-recorded seminar that educates on the differences of
being an actor, ally and accomplice, giving viewers the challenge to
become accomplices for racial justice. Donation of $20 for the seminar.

Experiential:
Black Joy Retreat, Green Lake, Wisconsin, June 30-July 2, and Lake Chautauqua,
New York, Aug. 25-27.
