Support groups

Below is our occasional listing of support groups affiliated with the Jewish community. We update this list with the newest information available each time we run it.

Please be aware that the community offers many additional options, including local rabbis who can offer support. Also, Beth Mumper of Jewish Family Services addresses the social service needs of Jewish individuals and families. Contact Mumper at 414-225-1347 or EMumper@jfsmilw.org.  

Here are the support groups: 

Caregiver Support Group  

First and third Fridays every month at 1:30 p.m.  

The Caregiver Support Group is dedicated to those providing care and support for a loved one with memory loss. This group supports emotional needs while minimizing anxiety and stress to encourage therapeutic calm, balance and connection. Meets virtually. Nechamah: Living with Chronic Illness 

Once a month. 

Congregation Shaarei Shamayim in Madison offers support groups for anyone impacted by chronic illness and rare disease. This virtual support group uses Zoom to gather. They ask if someone is not a member of the congregation that they make a donation to the community. For more information and to register, contact Office@Shamayim.org or 608-257-2944. 

Grief Support Group  

Wednesdays at 2 p.m.  

Jewish Family Services’ Grief Support Group helps participants learn how to accept the reality of their loss and are supported through the process of experiencing and acknowledging the physical, emotional and behavioral pain, as well as find a way to positively adjust to their new situation. Sessions are free and open to the community, regardless of race, religion, age, sexual identity, gender identity, ethnic origin, or ability. Meeting in person at Friendship Circle of Wisconsin. Teen Support Group   

Once a month. 

Meet once a month with a group of local teens in a space that will allow you to express yourself without being judged and give you an opportunity to connect with other local teens to support you. Share personal experiences, feelings, and coping strategies about your mental health. Meeting in person at Friendship Circle of Wisconsin. RSVP at FCWI.org/UMatterRSVP or call 414-755-5855.
