Gerry A. Cohen 

Gerry A. Cohen died on Dec. 8, 2022 at the age of 75.   

Predeceased by beloved parents, Harry V. and Ann (nee Krovitz) Cohen. Dear brother of Phillip (Sharon) Cohen of Michigan. Further survived by other relatives and friends. 

Graveside funeral service held Dec. 9 at Beth Hamedrosh Hagodel Cemetery, Milwaukee. Rabbi Levi Emmer officiated. Goodman-Bensman Whitefish Bay Funeral Home assisted the family. Donations to Ovation Communities, 1414 N. Prospect Ave., Milwaukee, WI 53202 appreciated. 

 
Dr. Marvin Glicklich 

Dr. Marvin Glicklich died on Nov. 12, 2022 at the age of 95. 

Surgeon-in-chief at Children’s Hospital, retired, and professor and chairman of the Department of Pediatric Surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin, emeritus. Beloved husband of Diann for 37 years. Former husband of Lucille B. Rosenberg, M.D. Preceded in death by sister Ruth and brother Donald.  Much loved father of Daniel (Sophia), Anne (Richard) Bucheger, Peter (Kristen), Lynn Glicklich Cohen, and Barry (Katherine Lato) and cherished stepfather of Mark Hagen, Victoria (Ray) Richetta, and Timothy (Sandra) Herzer. Dearest grandfather of 18 and great-grandfather of 8.  

Dr. Glicklich joined the U.S. Navy as a corpsman in 1944 and was discharged at the end of World War II. He was then accepted to the University of Wisconsin Medical School. Dr. Glicklich completed residencies in general surgery at the VA Medical Center, Milwaukee, in pediatric surgery at Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago, and in thoracic surgery at the Chicago State Tuberculosis Sanitorium. He was board certified in all three of these specialties.  

In the early 1960s, he did pioneering research in microsurgical techniques now commonly used in major heart, lung, kidney and gastrointestinal procedures. He wrote many articles on the treatment of Wilms’ tumor, pediatric tracheostomy, swallowing disorders and congenital disorders of the respiratory and gastrointestinal tracts.  

Dr. Glicklich began his private practice as a pediatric surgeon and later joined Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin. Drs. Roger Cohen and Juda Jona joined Marv as partners; Bruce Kaufman, Linda Sell and John Aiken also joined Marv in the practice, beginning in 1972. During his years in private practice, Dr. Glicklich and his associates devoted many years of teaching and inspiration to the Medical College of WI training medical students and surgical residents. 

Pediatric Surgical Associates was dissolved at which time Dr. Glicklich, his partners and associates joined the Medical College of Wisconsin full time.  

Dr. Glicklich held many positions of leadership at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin culminating in his appointment as the hospital’s first surgeon-in-chief. Together with St. Joseph’s Hospital in Milwaukee he donated his time and surgical expertise to children from around the world.  

During his 24 years of retirement, Diann and Marv traveled the world together, seeing the continents and numerous countries. They were able to spend more time visiting family on the east coast and visiting Marv’s brother, Don, and his family. Marv so loved sailing and spent many peaceful hours on the water also creating wonderful memories by sharing this love with his children and grandchildren.  

Memorial service held Nov. 27 at the Goodman-Bensman Whitefish Bay Funeral Home. Rabbi Michal Woll officiated. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Diann and Marvin Glicklich Education Fund at the Medical College of Wisconsin or the Milwaukee Jewish Federation appreciated.   

Jerome H. Lederman 

Jerome H. Lederman died Nov. 27, 2022, at the age of 88. Beloved husband of Roberta “Bobby” Lederman (nee Shernoff). Loving father of Teri Wick, Jodi (Steven Wright) Lederman Wright and Howard (Anna Sanfilippo) Lederman. Proud grandfather of Ashley (Ed Wagner), Drew and Jared Lederman; Jenna (JC) Ditch; Ben and Dana Wick; Ellie Burnstein and Amanda Cassin and great-grandfather of Alice and Evie Wagner. Dear brother of the late Sanford (the late Marilyn) Lederman. 

Visitation was at Goodman-Bensman Whitefish Bay Funeral Home on Dec. 2. Private burial followed at Second Home Cemetery, Milwaukee. Rabbi Shari Shamah officiated. Memorial contributions to American Heart Association or ORT America appreciated.
